A 24-year-old man is behind bars after he confessed to throwing a 13-month-old baby across the room, causing fatal injuries.

Child Protection Services notified the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office when the baby was brought to a local hospital by his caregiver on September 28.

Doctors determined that the child had a skull fracture and he was immediately transferred to a hospital in Baton Rouge.

Authorities interviewed the child's family members, as well as the mother’s boyfriend, Trent Dubroc of Sulphur.

During the interview with Dubroc, he told officials that he removed the infant from the crib and threw the baby across the room out of frustration. Dubroc then returned the baby to the crib, telling no one of the incident.

The baby was in critical condition, but on September 30, at 10:20 a.m., he was removed from life support and pronounced dead.

Dubroc was served a warrant on September 30. He was already booked into the Calcasieu Parish Correctional Center after he was arrested on September 28, on a bench warrant for Failure To Appear in Court on September 20, for charges of Video Voyeurism.

His bond was set at $1.5 million.
