Jeremy Morgan Evans, 24, was handed a 20-month state jail sentence after pleading guilty to a 2011 animal cruelty charge involving a dog named “Honey Bee” that drew regional attention.

In pronouncing the sentence, Judge Alfonso Charles calls photo evidence of Honey Bee’s neck injuries “sickening.” Charles said Evans’ ex-girlfriend, who was alone for a week in the Kilgore house where the dog was tied with cable, also should have been before his bench.
