Man involved in Lufkin murder pleads guilty to tampering charge

Lufkin, Tx (KETK) — One of the three people involved in Lufkin murder pleaded guilty Monday to tampering/fabricating physical evident with intent to impair a human corpse.
Daniel Andres Muniz, 29, of Winnie, made the plea in the 217th Judicial District Court. He will now face sentencing on June 4 at 9:00 a.m.
According to the Lufkin Police Department, investigators believe the victim, 47-year-old Efren Mora Elizondo, of Lufkin, was possibly killed before being placed in the bed of a burning truck found near Renfro Drive and Valley Avenue.
Kristine Maldonado Garcia, 25, of Lufkin, was caught in St. Landry Parish, Louisiana. She faces one count of murder, a first degree felony. No trial date has been set, according to the Angelina County Judicial website.
The third suspect, Monsivais, has not yet been caught.
