Mom charged in death of 13-year-old son who weighed 21 lbs
NBC — A North Dakota woman has been charged with murder in the starvation death of her son.
13-year-old Aidan Edward Bossingham weighed just 21 pounds when he died in January. The state medical examiner says the cause of death was chronic starvation, from untreated juvenile appetite disorder and the manner of his death was homicide.
His mother, Jessica Lee Jensen, told investigators her son had a malfunctioning pituitary gland that inhibited his growth, and reportedly said her son had not seen a doctor in several years.
She is also charged with neglecting her 14-year-old son and seven-year-old daughter.
Jensen could face life in prison without parole if she is convicted in Aidan's death.
