A DeSoto Parish woman was arrested after allegedly trying to conceal methamphetamine in her baby's diaper.

This happened after agents from the DeSoto Parish Sheriff’s Office and the Tri Parish Narcotics Task Force received a Crime Stoppers tip that Ceceila L. Carter had been using methamphetamine in front of her three-month-old infant.

Authorities went to the address provided by the informant and watched two women leave the home and get into a vehicle together.

Ceceila L. Carter got into the passenger seat of the vehicle with her infant. The vehicle drove onto the street with the infant riding in Carter’s lap. Agents stopped the car because the baby was not riding in a car seat.

While talking to Carter, agents saw that she seemed very nervous and wanted to remove the baby from the scene.

During the conversation with the women, a family friend of Carter's arrived and said she wanted to change the infant’s diaper. Carter agreed and as the friend began changing the diaper, agents observed that a one gram bag of crystal methamphetamine was stuck to the child’s buttocks.

Agents called for an ambulance, concerned for the child, since there could be a possibility of transfer of the drug to the child through the skin. The child was transported to a nearby hospital for observation. The Louisiana Department of Child and Family Services were also called to investigate.

Carter was placed under arrest at the stop for possession methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, illegal possession of controlled dangerous substance in the presence of a minor and no proper child passenger restraint system. The driver, Linda Walker, was also arrested and charged with driving under suspension.
