Nacogdoches authorities investigating early morning armed robbery

Nacogdoches detectives are investigating a morning robbery at a local convenience store Wednesday morning.

The crime happened at 6:39 a.m. Police said a man entered Murphy's Express in the 4400 block of North Street and demanded money. He also claimed he had a weapon on him.

After the robber received an undisclosed amount of cash, he left the scene in an older model tan/black Mitsubishi Montero. The criminal was described as a man with facial hair, 5 feet 10 inches tall and wearing an athletic jacket. 

The investigation is ongoing.
