Nacogdoches County, Texas (KETK) —
The Nacogdoches County Sheriff Office has issued two arrest warrants for a 16-year-old juvenile and a 25-year-old man for two counts of burglary after seizing thousands of dollars worth of stolen property from their residence.
Warrants have been issued for Michael Allen Chaney, 25,and a 16-year-old juvenile. They are believed to be driving a tan ford minivan bearing Texas license plate number BFK-8635. Warrants for burglary of a habitation a 2nd felony and burglary of a building a state jail felony have been issued for their arrest.
Sheriff Jason Bridges stated that an illegal dumping call helped lead to the seizure of the stolen property. A detective with the Nacogdoches County Sheriff Office was contacted around 10:00 p.m., on Monday night at his residence in reference to illegal dumping on CrR 816. The detective responded to the scene and found a local address inside the trash on County Road 816.
The detective conducted a follow up at the address where two suspects were identified. While speaking with the owner of the residence, the detective also noticed a green john deere utility cart inside the residence. The detective knew that one had just been previously stolen in the area a few days ago. When questioning the suspect, he became very nervous and gave evasive answers about who the utility cart belonged to.
The following day, investigators conducted a follow up where they gained information that lead them to believe that the utility cart at the residence was the one that was stolen from a burglary on CR 816 a few days prior. Officers returned to the residence and gained consent to search the premises. Upon consent to search, Detectives found several thousand dollars worth of antique items inside the house that had also been recently reported stolen from a burglary on CR 816. Two males confessed at the scene to the crime of committing both burglaries.
Detectives at the scene were able to recover all the property that had been stolen from the two burglaries that occurred on July 3rd and July 4th. Detectives then returned to the sheriff office to obtain two arrest warrants on the suspect’s that were cooperating at the time of the investigation. However since that time, the suspect’s have stopped cooperating and are believed to be on the run.
Anyone with information on these suspect’s are encouraged to contact the Nacogdoches County Sheriff Office or Crime Stoppers.
