Nacogdoches man arrested for burglary, assault of ex-girlfriend

The Nacogdoches County Sheriff Office has arrested a Nacogdoches man after he broke into his ex-girlfriend residence and threatened her with a knife.

Officials arrested O'Brian Duke, 30, of Nacogdoches, for burglary of a habitation with intent to commit assault and interference with a 9-1-1 emergency call.

The Sheriff Office responded to a call Sunday morning shortly after 6:00 a.m., in reference to a disturbance on Highway 7 West.

As officers arrived on scene, Duke had fled on foot.

He was found a short time later, walking down the roadway with a pit bull dog and was taken into custody.

After further investigation, officers found that  Duke broke into his ex-girlfriend residence with a knife in one hand and pit bull dog by his side.

Duke attempted to make the pitbull bull dog attack the victim while in the home.

The victim attempted to call 9-1-1, but Duke destroyed the phone while in the house and started choking the victim.

The victim was able to escape and call 9-1-1 using her cell phone.

Deputies arrived on scene in a matter of minutes and found Duke just a short distance from the home.

Duke was taken into custody for Burglary of a habitation with intent to commit assault a first degree felony and interference with a 9-1-1 emergency call a class A misdemeanor.

The pit bull was released to animal control officers.
