A manhunt spanning almost an entire day ended overnight after authorities arrested the suspected in Tyler, according to the Longview Police Department. The search for the suspect began Thursday morning in Longview.

Law enforcement officers stopped searching for the man, Robby Bryan Stevens, 43, around 1:30 p.m., Thursday. He was eventually caught by the Tyler Police Department in the overnight hours.

The suspect's vehicle was spotted near Highway 69 North and Loop 323 at the Knights Inn after a bulletin was put out by the authorities, Tyler Police said. Investigators were called to the scene and Stevens was caught in a hotel room. More details behind his arrest have not been released.

According to officer Kristie Bryan with the Longview Police Department, their agency was joined by the Upshur County Sheriff's Office, East Mountain Police Department, Gregg County Sheriff's Office and DPS during the search for Stevens in a wooded off Gilmer Road in Longview.

Stevens is wanted for the December 20, aggravated robbery of China King in Longview. He has also been charged and arraigned in the robbery of the Dollar General in Diana.

On December 20 at 10:39 p.m., officers were dispatched to an aggravated robbery that had just occurred at the China King in 400 Block of West Loop 281. When officers arrived the victim told police a white male approximately 5'9 to 6'0 tall with an unshaven face approached her while she was at the register.

The man, who police said was Stevens, brandished a weapon and demanded the register drawer containing money. The clerk gave him the money and he left the restaurant with an undisclosed amount of cash. Stevens is reported to have fled that scene in a dark silver or champagne colored four-door passenger car.

After reviewing the surveillance video, police determined Stevens had been in the restaurant a few minutes prior to the robbery, approached the counter, took a menu and left.

Video of the incident can be viewed here.

The suspect was last seen in the Winding Way area of north Longview wearing a white shirt, jeans and was shoeless before he turned up in Tyler.

Stevens is being held in the Gregg County Jail on $80,000 bond.
