Kilgore Police arrested one person Tuesday morning following a shooting on the southeast side of the city.

At around 7:07 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 1500 block of Peach Street after a caller reported someone had been shot. When authorities arrived at the scene, they found Craig Slayter, 53, of Kilgore, had fired a bullet into a truck parked in front of his home. The shot went through the door of the vehicle and hit a man in the leg. He was identified as Bobby Reid, 43, of Carthage.

The incident was the result of an argument between the two men, police said. Slayter was arrested and booked into the Kilgore jail on an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charge.

Reid was taken to a local hospital where he was treated and released.

Slayter was booked into the Gregg County Jail on $10,000 bond.
