An East Texas woman was arrested Wednesday afternoon for allegedly trying to stab her boyfriend during a breakup.

According to the Lufkin Police Department, around 1:00 p.m., a man arrived at the police station and reported his girlfriend, 31-year-old Delilah Hendrix, had attacked him earlier in the day at a home in the 700 block of Clark Avenue. The victim stated he was ending their relationship and she became angry.

When the man tried to leave the home, she grabbed him around the waist and neck, trying to stop him from leaving. The victim said she then began choking him and he had to to bite her on the arm to get away.

After breaking free, the boyfriend walked toward the door and was allegedly approached by Hendrix, whom was now armed with a knife. The victim stated he grabbed a fire poker and a small stereo to defend himself.

Police said the suspect tried to stab the victim, but he was able to swipe the weapon away with the stereo. The boyfriend then escaped and headed to LPD headquarters.

During an interview with Hendrix, she gave a similar story, but said the argument began over the man asking for money and denied having a knife. She also claimed her boyfriend had threatened her with the stereo and poker. Hendrix then told police she only grabbed the victim around the neck only after he pushed her.

The suspect was arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and was taken to the Angelina County Jail without incident. She is being held on $3,000 bond.
