Authorities have released the name of a man who is in stable condition this morning after being shot in the chest early Sunday near UT-Tyler.

The victim has been identified as Tarrington Joiner, 21, of Tyler, according to the Tyler Police Department. Officials say he was shot at the intersection of Patriot and University.

Joiner and two friends were allegedly in a dispute that night at Outlaws Club on Hwy. 110 South, but then left.

Shortly before 2:30 a.m., authorities believe several men riding in a tan Dodge Durango with large rims pulled up next to Joiner’s vehicle on Patriot and fired several rounds at him. Joiner was hit by one bullet in his chest. The victim's friend jumped into the driver’s seat and took him immediately to a local hospital. He is currently in stable condition.
