Eustace, Texas (KETK) — Two East Texas suspects were taken into custody and booked into jail after robbing a business and leading deputies on a chase ending in a local lake.
On Wednesday at 1 a.m., the Henderson County Sheriff's Office received a call on a robbery at a gaming establishment on Richardson Road off Highway 175 near Eustace. A woman and man had allegedly held up the store for an undisclosed amount of money.
Responding deputies were able to determine the getaway vehicle's description and a description of the suspects. The information was then sent to all law enforcement in the area. The suspects were later identified as Manuel Herminio Hernandez and Erika Jo Guill, of Gun Barrel City. The vehicle was determined to be a minivan.
The following day at 8 a.m. a deputy noticed a vehicle matching the description in the Bonia Point Subdivision off Sailfish. He then set up surveillance on the van.
At 10 a.m., authorities attempted to arrested the alleged robbers at a home there. Guill was taken into custody with no incident, but his accomplice jumped through a window and a foot chase began. A perimeter was quickly established and multiple agencies begin assisting in a lengthy search.
Around 2:10 p.m., a deputy spotted a person flailing in a body of water nearby. Authorities then made contact with a fishing guide company, which had recently returned from a fishing trip. The guides took law enforcement onto Cedar Creek Lake where they took Hernandez into custody.
Both were taken to the Henderson County Detention Center. No bail has been set. Guill is charged with robbery and Hernandez faces evading arrest, detention, robbery, a parole violation warrant. There was also an outstanding Dallas warrant for delivery of a controlled substance.
