Athens, Texas (KETK) — The Henderson County Sheriff's Office announced Wednesday the arrested of a man and his associate who had allegedly been selling drugs in the area for more than a decade. Sheriff Ray Nutt said the investigation into his arrest lasted five months, ending in mid-May.
Uleyses Roberts, 45, and Diijon Howard, 25, were taken into custody on May 13 during a raid involving several federal, state and local law enforcement agencies. Authorities executed three federal search warrants in the operation. The bust took place after the pair was indicted for conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine.
Sheriff Ray Nutt said detectives began the investigation in January 2014. The Drug Enforcement Administration was asked to join the operation and spearhead the targeting of the Roberts' organization. Authorities believe the alleged drug trafficking organization had been distributing narcotics in Henderson County for more than a decade.
The investigation involved extensive surveillance and techniques that led to the seizure of one and a half kilograms of crystal meth, or about 3.3 pounds. The arrests also led to another seizure of about one kilo of crystal meth and a handgun. Two Dallas area men in Kaufman County were also taken into custody as a result.
