Tyler, Texas (KETK) — Tyler Police are looking for a man who tried to break into multiple ATMs in Tyler in the early morning hours on Wednesday.
Authorities tell KETK, the man was caught on surveillance video around 2:30 a.m. trying to pull an ATM from the wall of the CVS Pharmacy on the 4900 block of South Broadway Ave.
The pharmacy's front doors had been forced open, but no property appeared to have been damaged or stolen.
An off-site security officer reportedly witnessed the incident, and claimed that the burglar had left the area in a dark colored van.
Tyler Police searched the area, but were unable to find a vehicle matching that description.
Authorities reviewed the surveillance video, which showed the mini-van backing up to the business' front doors. The would-be burglar got out of the van, forced open the doors, and attempted to take the store's ATM.
After several failed attempts to remove the machine, the man drove away.
At the time of the attempted burglary, the man appeared to be wearing dark colored pants, a dark colored shirt, a white undershirt, white shoes, and had a white cloth covering his face.
Police tell KETK that they believe this same person also attempted to burglarize a second ATM that same morning.
Security photos from Texas Bank & Trust on the 2300 block of West Grande Blvd in Tyler show a similar mini-van at that location. However, the burglary at that bank was also unsuccessful.
Anyone with any information about this case is asked to call Tyler Police at 903-531-1000 or Crimestoppers at 903-597-2833.
