Two people were arrested Tuesday morning for allegedly robbing grave sites across East Texas.

The Van Zandt County Constable's Office arrested Ruby and Jack Brown, both of Murchison, on theft of property from a grave charges in Gainesville.

On May 15, Van Zandt authorities discovered burglaries at the Mytle Springs Cemetery, Asbury Cemetery and Meredith Camp Grounds Cemetery. The bandits allegedly vandalized between 50 and 100 graves. In many instances, the pair stole copper from the graves.

According to Van Zandt Deputy Constable Bob Keltner, authorities are working to develop information for the Nacogdoches Police Department, where the suspects have relatives in the area.
