A Tyler man was attacked and robbed overnight, his assailants still on the loose.

Police were called to the 1100 block of N. Albertson Avenue around 12:30 a.m. Thursday morning.

Officers tell KETK, a 24 year Hispanic male and two friends were “jumped” by two other unidentified Hispanic males.

The victim said he was struck in the back of the head with a handgun and was told to hand over his wallet. After a brief struggle, the suspects took off with the injured man's cell phone. He was later transported to a local hospital by family with non-life threatening injuries.

If anyone has information in this case, they are urged to call the Tyler Police Department at 903-531-1000 or Tyler/Smith County Crime Stoppers at 903-597-CUFF.
