Tyler man found guilty of shooting, killing partner sentenced to life in prison
Tyler, Texas (KETK) —
A Tyler who was convicted of killing his partner at his Azalea District rental home has been sentenced to life in prison.
Christopher Wiley, 39, of Tyler, shot and killed Rodney Walker, 52, at Walker's rental home on East First Street on Monday, July 1, 2013. Officials then say Wiley attempted suicide and was arrested after he was released form hospital care.
According to the Smith County District Attorney's Office, the guilty verdict came down around 5:00 p.m., Thursday evening in the 241st court of District Judge Jack Skeen.
According to judicial records Wiley and Walker had an intense relationship with Walker having pled guilty to aggravated assault against Wiley stemming from a 2011 incident. Walker broke Wiley's leg with a hammer and received probation for the attack in 2012.
