A Whitehouse mother is behind bars Wednesday after police discovered a sweating, lethargic child in a vehicle at a Tyler store.

Tyler officers were dispatched to Sam’s Wholesale, located on the SSW Loop 323, in reference to a 3-year-old left unattended in a vehicle around 1:35 p.m.

A witness found Smith County District Attorney’s Office Investigator Corey Hoover in the parking lot and relayed what they had seen.

Hoover immediately went to the vehicle and discovered a child strapped in a car seat with the door unlocked. Hoover removed the child from the vehicle and noticed the child was very lethargic and wet from sweat.

EMS was called to the scene to take the child to a local hospital. Officers located the mother and determined the child may have been left in the vehicle unattended  for about an hour.

The woman was identified as Lisa Tang, 44. She was arrested and charged with child endangerment. She was booked into the Smith County Jail.

Child Protective Services was contacted in reference to this incident.

While I wouldn't do it myself, I have memories of my mother leaving me in the car as a child with the ac going but yeah it's awful. I hope the kid is okay.

Just can't see how someone "especially a mother" could leave a child in a hot car, with the door unlocked to boot. Makes you wonder why she got pregnant in the first place. You can't fix stupid.

I wouldn't leave my child in a hot car, not even for a second. I just don't understand why people want to leave their children in the hot cars when they know that they are either going to get arrested or the children could die in the hot car.

what an idiot, may she rot in jail and never get the child aint like she is young and don't know better.....glad the kid survived....
