Tyler PD releases name of victim injured in shooting near downtown Tyler

On Friday, Tyler police officers responded to the scene of a reported shooting near downtown Tyler. 

According to the Tyler Police Department, at noon, Gregory Rolling, 19, of Tyler, was shot once by an unknown suspect at an apartment complex in the 700 block of South Kennedy. He was taken to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries. The bullet entered the victims head in the front and exited the top area without ever piercing his skull, police said. 

Authorities are searching for the gunman in the area. He is believed to be a Hispanic male, who is 6' to 6'1" and weighing 180 to 200 pounds. Witnesses on scene reported seeing three black men with guns at the victim's apartment. It is unclear who the suspect(s) are at this time.

A motive has not been declared by investigators.
