The Tyler Police Department is stepping up its patrols targeting DWI drivers during Spring Break.

The department will be participating in a State Grant during the Spring Break week-end that will provide funding to the department to enforce DWI laws. The enforcement detail will be on the look-out for intoxicated drivers that will start on Friday, March 14, through Sunday, March 16.

This program has proven to be an effective tool to combat drunken drivers. It is the intent of all Law Enforcement agencies that this effort will act as a deterrent, persuading people to avoid driving while intoxicated.

Basically it's a waste of taxpayer $.
Every year it's a new crop of college kids who go through a rite of passage.
It's been happening for over 100 years & won't change anytime soon.
Hard to believe you can get another Tyler policeman on the roads- they'll be bumping into each other.
I see them passing each other all the time.
Or else yakking it up behind the Borden Milk building 2-3 cruisers together at a time.
Must be on their Union mandated break time.
