Tylerite sentenced to 25 years for 2013 murder
Tyler (KETK) — A Tylerite was sentenced to 25 years in jail Monday for the murder of another man back in May 2013.
Alex Jones, 25, who was booked into jail on May 22, 2013, still faces about 24 years after being granted time served. Judge Jack Skeen presided over the proceedings in the 241st Judicial District Court.
Jones was charged with the crime after a shooting in the 100 block of Patton Lane, located west of Tyler near Highway 64. Responding Smith County deputies discovered the suspect had shot and killed Timothy Matthew Martin, 24, during a confrontation.
Restitution will be handled after Jones is released from jail.
