The grandparents were convicted of placing their 2-year-old granddaughter into scalding water in a bathtub at a house on Aberdeen in Tyler.

The toddler was severely burned on her feet and ankles. She was flown to a Dallas hospital when the incident took place.

The sentencing phase of the trial began immediately. The Walkers face anywhere from probation to life in prison.

ORIGINAL STORY: Closing arguments and jury deliberations are scheduled in a Tyler court room on Tuesday for the grandparents charged with injury to a child.

KETK was in the courtroom Monday as more evidence was presented.

Kenneth and Shelly Walker were arrested in March, accused of hurting their 2 year old granddaughter, Bridget Walker, when she was found to be severely burned on her feet and ankles during their care.

Reports indicated that the toddler had been placed into scalding bathtub water.

No one deserves what these grandparents are dealing with. I think this girl went in the bathroom, locked the door, got in the bathtub and turned the water on, and when the water first started it scared her so she backed up (cause water doesn't start out hot in case these people don't know), and then kinda shock before she realized and got out! There is no way they could have forced this on her without leaving bruises on her. Did I miss anything? It could happen to anyone. They are innocent!

Someone please tell me, how can both grandparents do this to this child? Just beyond me that one would not stop the other from doing such a thing to that little girl.
