UPDATE: Man accused of robbing elderly woman at Tyler library linked to other crimes

tyler, tx — According to the Tyler Police Department, an arrest has been made in the robbery of an 82-year-old woman at the Tyler library.
The suspect has been identified as 21-year-old Elliot Bernard West, Jr., of Tyler.

Officials tell KETK the man was arrested after hanging around a local church.
An off-duty officer was at the church when West said he wanted to become a member. Once inside, he told the officer he needed to use the restroom. The alleged robber then hid a BB gun behind a baby station table.
Police searched the bathroom, found the gun and arrested West. He has also been linked to at least one other robbery outside of a private doctor's office in Tyler and could possibly be connected to more.
West's bond is set at $750,000.
A woman was robbed at gunpoint early Sunday morning in Tyler.
Police say an 82-year-old woman was finishing a book in the Tyler Public Library parking lot when a black male walked up to her car and displayed a handgun.
The robber reportedly demanded that the woman drive him where he wanted to go but the woman refused.
Police say the woman gave the robber $100 before he took off down Bois D'arc Street.
The robber was described as being 19-20 years old, 5'10 and clean shaven.
The incident is under investigation.
