Betterton said his office picked up Andrew Conrad Norwine, 21, from the Vernon Parish Jail in Louisiana this morning and brought him back to Upshur County.

Norwine was arrested Christmas Day by Vernon Parish sheriff’s deputies on an outstanding Upshur County warrant charging him with capital murder. He was held at the jail in Leesville, La., under a $1 million bond. He subsequently signed a waiver of extradition.

Two other suspects were arrested Dec. 19 and charged with aggravated kidnapping and capital murder in the slaying. They were arraigned Dec. 28, and each remain held in the Upshur County Jail on $1.3 million bonds.

According to probable cause arrest affidavits for Sarah Haslam, 20, and Daniel Jones, 19, both of Longview, the suspects slashed a tire on Gammage’s truck, then tricked him into taking a ride in Haslam’s car. The suspects beat and killed Gammage before burning and attempting to hide his body in rural Upshur County.

Gammage, 27, was reported missing Dec. 8 by his mother, who had not heard from her son in four days. After a two-week search, his body was found after authorities released to the News-Journal and other media a bank security video that led to identification of the suspects.

Two of the three suspects accused of killing a Longview man in early December appeared before an Upshur County judge Friday morning.

Sarah Haslam, 20, Daniel Jones, 19, are charged with killing Ronnie Joe Gammage, 27, of Longview, who disappeared on December 4. The two suspects appeared before Judge Lauren Parish in the 115th District Court at 11:30 a.m. The third alleged murderer Andrew Conrad Norwine, 21, will be transferred to Upshur County in about 10 days.

A missing person report was filed on December 8, the same day Gammage's truck was found in a Waffle House parking lot with slashed tires.

After the pickup was found, Longview police released surveillance video of a group of people trying to cash a check from Gammage's account. Tips from the public helped identify two of the people in the car as Haslam and Jones.

On Wednesday, December 19, Jones and Haslam led authorities to Gammage's body in Upshur County.

The Longview News-Journal reports Andrew Norwine, 21, a U.S. Army private assigned to Fort Polk in Leesville, La., signed a waiver of extradition from the Vernon Parish Jail on Thursday allowing his transfer to Gilmer.

Norwine's bond was set at $1 million on a capital murder charge. Haslam and Jones were each held on $1.3 million bond. They are charged with capital murder and aggravated kidnapping.

Haslam and Jones were transferred from the Gregg County Jail to the Upshur County Jail Thursday.

According to probable cause affidavits for the arrest of Haslam and Jones, Gammage, who was mentally disabled, was lured by the trio into a vehicle Dec. 5 and driven to a construction site in Gregg County, where he was beaten.

After the attack, Gammage was loaded into a vehicle and driven to rural Upshur County where he was killed and his body burned, according to police records.

Prosecuters will seek the death penalty.

I know that there are many unanswered questions but the one that comes to mind for me is How could this happen what went so horribly wrong that it could go as far as it did? I know that only God knows the answer but I hope that Daniel does find God while he is in there and give his life to GOd. I will pray for him.

Thanks Sgt. Soto. Daniel then must be the one. The girl said he was the trigger man.

Three messed up losers got together and you see the outcome.

I'm a sergeant that was in the same platoon as Pvt Norwine (who has been kicked out of the Army), and I can guarantee that he was not the leader of this.. He was a piece of shit soldier who went AWOL twice. We are glad he's out and can care less what the outcome is.. I send my regards to Mr. Gammage's family.

Actually they were all in it together with Daniel and Sarah being the major "participators" I'm not really sure what role the Army guy played, I havent heard anything about him. Daniel is the son of a preacher here in Longview and I've gotten my information from people very close to that family. Daniel and Sarah have always been the best of friends, so to assume that because she was the girl, she was a follower... WRONG! They were on drugs as well. Very very sad.

Gad what a waste. 19, 20, and 21 years old and this is capital murder. I suspect the girl was a follower. Now just which of the guys was the leader is up in the air but I bet the Army guy. Well we will see what the trial brings out but since they led the cops to the body... Looks pretty bad.
