There is a new effort to put a Texas teenage drunk driver behind bars.

Ethan Couch was the 16-year-old driver in a crash that killed four people this past summer and police say his blood alcohol level was three times the legal limit.

Couch was sentenced to 10 years probation, with no road for appeal, but the district attorney is now turning his attention to two teens who were severely injured in the crash.

Four lives were lost and many others were changed forever, including Sergio Molina and Solimon Mohmand. They were riding in the back of Ethan Couch's truck the night he admits he drove drunk and caused a wreck. Mohmand's is now paralyzed and blinking is his only way to communicate.

Six months later, Juvenile District Judge Jean Boyd sentenced Couch to 10 years probation, drawing outrage from far and wide.

Tarrant County prosecutors told CBS 11 they could not find a legal reason to appeal. But today, District Attorney Joe Shannon said during his recent trial, the 16-year-old admitted his guilt in four cases of intoxication manslaughter and two cases of intoxication assault.

"There has been no verdict formally entered in the two intoxication assault cases. every case deserves a verdict," said Shannon. "The district attorney's office is asking the court to incarcerate the teen on the two intoxication assault cases."

Now, we also know more about Couch's parents who both have a long criminal history.

According to the Johnson County Sheriff's Office, Fred Couch was arrested for DWI in 1992, criminal mischief in 1994 and assault with bodily injury in 1996. Tonya Couch was charged with reckless driving in 2003.

During the trail, Ethan Couch's attorneys argued he was not responsible for his actions because his parents were not involved and gave him everything he wanted. One defense psychologist called it "affluenza."

As far as the intoxication assault charges, the maximum sentence Couch faces is three years behind bars.

That was not justice, that was a joke. The judge must be related some way. Should have been 10 years in T.D.C., no parole, plus the other charges pending. This kid killed 4 people and paralyzed another and all they are going to do is slap his wrist because he is rich and spoiled rotten.

I'm a recovering alcoholic sober 3 years. Letting this kid off on probation is a bad idea. He needs some jail time and a 12 step group.
The only thing that gets an alcoholics attention is pain. If you baby an alcoholic they'll crawl up in your lap and drink themselves to death. This kid needs boot camp or Safe P at the very least.
This is a good example of how Texas justice works. The rich skate, the poor go to TDC.

Judge got paid off obviously . Jus go ahead and tell all our youngsters they are not reponsible for their actions .............................................especially If your rich!!!! Judge needs his butt spanked .
