A wanted East Texas man was caught by the Bryan Police Department after claiming he didn't know his identity.

On May 29, John Alton Curtis, 70, of Elkhart, walked into City Mission, located in the 400 block of South Randolph, and told people there he did not know his name or background. Bryan PD and Adult Protective Services were able to determine the man's identity, then discovered an active warrant was out for his arrest.

Curtis was wanted in Anderson County for indecency with a child by sexual conduct. Police returned to City Mission and arrested the suspect. He was booked into the Brazos County Jail and will be transferred to Anderson County.
