Curtain call at home for Endeavour's final crew
HOUSTON — (AP) - The final crew of the space shuttle Endeavour has arrived home in Houston to a cheering crowd of hundreds of co-workers and families.
It was an emotional curtain call for the next-to-last shuttle flight.
Endeavour commander Mark Kelly and his five crewmates flew to Texas a day after landing the shuttle at Cape Canaveral to end their 16-day mission to the International Space Station.
Kelly's wife - Rep. Gabrielle Giffords - didn't attend the event Thursday at Houston's Ellington Field. The Arizona congresswoman was shot in January. She left rehab in Houston to be at Endeavour's May launch.
It was Endeavour's final flight after 19 years. Atlantis will end the shuttle program with a launch set for July 8.
