Dad accused of scalding child pleads guilty

Lufkin, TX — Anthony Watts, on the first day of his bench trial on the charge of injury to a child, pleaded guilty to the first-degree felony. A bench trial occurs when a court case is tried in front of a judge rather than a jury.
Watts, who is represented by Lufkin-based attorney Eddie McFarland, is accused of scalding his then-2-year-old son, ZaTaurean Pleasant, during a bath in March 2010.
