It is the 3rd largest auto show in the state behind the State Fair and Houston, and the Dallas Auto Show this year had some exclusive debuts.
And on press day, they showed us auto writers the best of the new.
It’s easy to get carried away at a show like this.
There are some lovely exotics to catch your eye, like new Aston Martins, Maseratis and Bentleys.
But for most folks, the bread and butter cars and trucks are the attraction, and this year, they have a lot to offer.
Chrysler showed off a designer version of its evergreen 300 sedan. And amid Jeeps and other attractions, a 4-door version of the hot selling Fiat 500.
But right next door, the stuff that dreams are made of. The new Dodge Viper made its debut, though we drove it for you a couple of months ago.
Nearly 550 horsepower and deadly looks make this a true American supercar.
Equally impressive was the Ford Atlas prototype truck, a look at Ford thinking for their best-selling
F-series trucks.
Over at crosstown rival GM, the new Chevy Impala SS model with over 400-horsepower was the star of the show, but the new 2014 Silverado light-duty truck was also new to Texas.
The hot-selling Chevy Cruze compact gets a turbo-diesel this year, the first of many small diesels in domestic cars and trucks in the next couple of years.
All in all, a great selection of new cars from VW, Mazda, Nissan and others.
The Dallas Auto Show runs through the 17th at the Convention Center.
