David Koresh's Aunt Indicted By Grand Jury

April 10, 2009 - 5:08pm

HENDERSON COUNTY - A few months ago, the mother of David Koresh, who is the former leader of religious sect- Branch Davidian, was killed.

And, her sister was charged with her murder.

Now, there are new developments.

A Henderson County Grand Jury has indicted Koresh's Aunt, 54-year-old Beverly Clark.

She's accused of killing her sister, 60-year-old Bonnie Clark Halderman, back in January.

On that day, authorities responded to a 9-1-1 call and found Bonnie dead in Beverly's home on Farm-to-Market Road 3079 in Chandler.

The Henderson County Sheriff tells us, Bonnie was stabbed to death with a knife.

He says, Bonnie had gone to Beverly's house, to take her to the doctor.

In an exclusive interview this afternoon, friends of the Koresh family tell us, they are still mourning.

They say, Bonnie didn't deserve it.

Friend Samantha Shacklett says, "She was an amazing person. She loved animals. She was good to everybody. She's known us for years, and I don't want people to associate them with her son and sister. She was nothing like that. Despite the few problems some of the family has had, they're actually really good people. Especially, Bonnie."

Shacklett tells us, Bonnie was a pediatrician and used to help care for her daughter.

They were close.

But, she says, oddly enough— she never knew Bonnie had a sister.

And her sister, lived only a mile down the road.

Bonnie's son, David Koresh died back in 1993 in a fire, along with 75 others inside the Branch Davidian compound in Waco, during a stand-off with federal agents.

Koresh told followers he was a prophet and the head of the biblical "House of David."
