Dead newborn infant found in Cen-Tex Walmart bathroom

Authorities are investigating a case in which a newborn infant was found dead at a Killeen Walmart Friday afternoon.

At 1:49 p.m., the Killeen Police Department was alerted to reports of an employee who found a baby not breathing inside the local Walmart.

When officers arrived, they found an unresponsive infant in a bathroom located at the back of the store. Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke pronounced the girl dead at 2:13 p.m.

The body has been sent for autopsy and will performed at the Southwestern Institute of Forensic Sciences in Dallas.

Officials are asking the mother, who has not been identified, to seek medical attention immediately or to contact the police department to assist her in seeking medical attention she may need.
