DEARBORN, Mich. (AP) - A dealer says Ford plans to eliminate at least 175 Lincoln dealers as part of its effort to revive the luxury brand. Ford revealed the plan to 900 Lincoln dealers during a closed-door meeting today in Michigan.
A dealer who attended says Ford has identified 130 market areas where the brand has the best chance, and plans to reduce the 500 dealerships in those areas by 35 percent. It also will make cuts to the 700 dealers outside those metropolitan areas.
