WASHINGTON (CNN) — Mitt Romney's presidential campaign has bought almost $5 million of television time beginning Wednesday to air advertisements in eight battleground states, according to a Republican ad tracking source.

This is the second week in a row the campaign has made an ad buy of almost $5 million, signifying it is increasing its muscle in the general election ad wars.

No word on whether Team Romney will air previously released ads or debut a new one.

In the last week Romney's campaign has been airing previously unveiled spots, including "day one" ads (setting out what actions the candidate would immediately enact once he is sworn in) as well as a spot reviving harsh words leveled against President Barack Obama by a fellow Democrat - Sen. Hillary Clinton, then Obama's rival for the Democratic presidential nomination.

During the month of July, Obama's campaign has reserved almost $25 million in nine states, according to the ad buying source.

Team Obama is currently airing several ads hitting Romney over his positions on abortion and family planning and for allegedly outsourcing jobs overseas while head of the financial firm Bain Capital -- an assertion called false by Romney's campaign.

Pressed by some Republicans to be more assertive in responding to attacks on his Bain tenure and his wealth, Romney on Tuesday fought back, calling the Obama campaign's ads false and misleading.

"It's interesting when it comes to outsourcing, this president has been outsourcing [a] good deal of American jobs by putting money into energy companies that end up making their products outside the U.S. If there's an outsourcer-in-chief, it's the President of the United States -- not the guy running to replace him," Romney said at a campaign event in Grand Junction, Colorado.

In the continuing back and forth, the Obama campaign countered Republican attacks that their policies have led to outsourcing by saying the administration has fought to end tax breaks for companies that ship jobs overseas and has enacted incentives for companies to bring jobs back to the U.S.

The breakdown of the new $4.789 million Romney buy, which runs from Wednesday to July 17, is:
