Deep East Texas Workforce Solutions to face budget cuts

With a 9.9 percent unemployment rate in the Deep East Texas area, according to August data from the Texas Workforce Commission, the six area Workforce Solutions centers and its related programs, whose purpose is to assist job seekers and businesses, will need to do more with less.

During its meeting on Wednesday, the Deep East Texas Workforce Development Board, a policy making body that plans, oversees, and evaluates workforce development programs in the 12-county Deep East Texas area, approved a $13.8 million budget for fiscal year 2012, a decrease of about 20 percent from last year.
