Hallsville — A Hallsville area drug deal gone bad resulted in the death of Carrol Gene Reeves nearly two years ago, according to attorney Rick Hagan.

In opening testimony for the murder trial of his client, Colin Christopher Rider, Hagan said Rider had no choice but to shoot Reeves.
