Meyers is third Republican to become a Democrat since 2008
Houston — The Houston Chronicle is reporting; The Texas Democrat Party gained its first statewide officeholder since the late 1990s with the party switch of Texas Court of Criminal Appeals Judge Lawrence “Larry” Meyers.
Meyers filed Monday to run as a Democrat for the Place 6 seat held by Texas Supreme Court Justice Jeff Brown, the party said.
