Robbery suspect was fatally shot

The Houston Chronicle is reporting; a robbery suspect was fatally shot to end a two-and-a-half-hour standoff Sunday in northwest Harris County.

Authorities say the man, in his 30s, robbed the Woodforest Bank around 12:30 p.m. He fled to the 13400 block of West Road, where he ended up in a standoff with members of the Harris County Sheriff's High Risk Operations Unit and Hostage Negotiating teams.

Officials said they negotiated at length and fired two large rubber balls, but that the suspect continued to act erratically, threatening to shoot himself, firing shots at the ground and eventually raising his pistol toward police.
