Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst was upset to learn Wednesday night that a Longview-area superintendent has told parents a renamed curriculum doesn’t need public airing because it’s just a new name.

“We’re going to pass another bill in 2014 that he is not going to like — right now, he is going against the spirit of (Senate Bill) 1474,” Dewhurst told parent Terri Hill. “Terri, it sounds like you need a new superintendent. I’ll call him, I’ll write a letter, and I’ll embarrass him.”

Moments later, the man in a four-way race to keep his job as head of the Texas Senate, amended his threat.
