AUSTIN, Texas — Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst has recommended adding a controversial immigration enforcement bill to the call of a special session.
Gov. Rick Perry has told lawmakers he will call a special session Tuesday because of the failure to pass a key school finance bill. Perry sets the agenda for a special session.
In a letter to Perry, Dewhurst said it should include the so-called "sanctuary cities" bill, congressional redistricting, windstorm insurance, Medicaid savings and several other issues along with school finance.
Dewhurst also said he sees no other choice than to operate the Senate under "simple majority vote."
Democrats have been able to block the sanctuary cities bill under normal Senate rules, but wouldn't have the numbers to stop it in a special session.

Good. We don't need to tie the hands of law enforcement and tell them that they can't enforce certain laws. It's wrong. Maybe it will help to prevent incidents like the Houston police officer who was killed by a drunk illegal.
Yes, yes, and YES!! The democRATS are trying to buy votes even if they come from illegal aliens!!! Has any party in history ever been as disloyal to the country as the current crop of state and national democRATS???????
