Could it be? Jesus ... and the Mrs.?

A newly revealed piece of evidence suggests some early Christians believe Jesus was married.

Harvard Divinity School Professor Karen King announced findings Tuesday of a centuries-old fragment of paper written in Coptic, a language used by Egyptian Christians.

A line in the piece of papyrus said to be from the 2nd century translates to "Jesus said to them ...'my wife.'"

Though The Bible never clearly addresses His marital status, most Christians have long believed Jesus was an unmarried man.

Nothing is known about the fragment's discovery, but  King says it belongs to a private collector, who brought it to Harvard to be examined.

It was later sent off and determined to be authentic by experts.

The Smithsonian Channel will air a special on King's findings September 30.
