Without a doubt it is probably one of the worst problems in the country. We no longer hire the best people for jobs. We hire by race quotas. No attention should be paid to the color but only to the best person for the job. Hiring quotas are nothing more than racism. But I guess its ok because only whites are affected by this.

I understand that something had to be done because of the ignorance and intolerance of some, but I was under the understanding that the goal was to achieve equal rights. Instead it has flipped. We live in a country where Jesse Jackson is allowed to call canidate Obama a quote un-quote "N-word" and no one bats an eye, but Imus, regardless of him being who he is, says nappy headed hoe, and the black community is up in arms and wants his head.

Yes it's a huge problem! I'm white and now I have to actually compete on a level playing field! I say poppycock to all that malarky hurumph! I totally agree with Jerry who is obviously also a white male, the reason detroit is in such poor economic standing is because of affirmative action and has absolutely nothing to do with the city's specialization in auto manufacturing and that industries subsequent decline due to overseas alternatives out competing them in both cost and quality! Hurumph!

Yes!! I have been denied jobs twice for a less experienced minority. In one instance I was told "Under the table" that the company had to hire a minority in the position. I did not sue becuase I figure it is a fact of life. But for it to happen twice in a two year span is pretty harsh! The second time I applied for a job and they brought a minority in from outside the company with little experience. I now have a dream job but I think it is only because a monority did not apply.

Yes, I believe it gone full-circle. I work at a company that is now 75% African Americans and the upper management is 90% African American - there were several African Americans promoted based on their connections within the company not their contributions.

Absolutely. I've seen it happen in corporate life where the most talented were passed over in promotions so that the posts could be filled with minorities, even though they were less qualified. As in the case of Washington DC, Detroit, don't forget Chicago, where the unions rule as to who gets assigned to prominent posts.
A big fat "Thank You Democrats" for helping to bring this great country to its knees.

There's no such thing as "reverse discrimination" discrimination is discrimination and i think its highly offensive to say when one party is dicriminated against its reverse. its all the same thing and just because some minority groups in the US have been discrimnated agianst recently that doesn't mean that they were the first. It pisses me off that people call it reverse discrimination when its still race discrimination.

Absolutely! Discrimination is basing decisions solely on a person's skin color or sex, etc. Why does it seem that people think only people of color can be discriminated against and not white people? The case of the firefighters in Massachusetts is a prime example of this. They studied much harder and did better on the promotion test so therefore they should reap the benefits of it--a promotion. If the candidates of color didn't study and didn't do well, why penalize the white candidates for their ignorance and laziness? It's time we reward those that work hard and penalize the ones that don't. It's that simple.
