East Texans respond to a Supreme Court decision siding with some Connecticut Firefighters who claimed they were victims of reverse discrimination.

There is no reverse discrimination. It is simply discrimination. Reverse discrimination insinuates that discrimination can be only against one group of people. I hate this term...

4 months agoEmphatically, yes! We definitely have a problem! One group should not have to give up their rights so that another group can have more. Affirmative action is asinine. A person should get a job based on their qualifications...not on their race, sex religion, etc. Don't get me wrong, I think
everyone deserves a fair deal in this country no matter what color their skin or what their gender happens to be.

4 months ago"Reverse" discrimination is, indeed, discrimination. It is 100% as racist and sexist and "regular" discrimination. As a matter of fact, it does not take us back to 1960s/1970s discrimination is goers clear back to shameless "justified" discrimination when "negroes were 3/5ths of a person and women did not vote"...just a different victim. It is actually saying that one is inferior to another. The "road to justice" will then be several generations long, just as the road for blacks, Hispanics, females, etc has been. Reverse discrimination is state sanctioned to a larege degree today and must be eliminated as all discrimination should be. The most qualified...period...gets the prize, job...whatever. Pretty soon a certain percentage of boxing matches will have to go to each group...some 'sport', eh?!

Being White, over 50, and christian...
The chances of success, in 2008 and beyond, are almost hopeless...
Maybe, I can say I am a "White American Indian and look older than I am with no particular religious following... hum!
Don't even want to think about being a 60's vet... that will really put me on the streets as a "Homeless" potential.
Peace...

5 months agoIt is a big problem, and has been for some time. In fact, I see it everyday. My old boss used it to his advantage to break every rule in the book, and told me that I couldn't touch him. He was right! He had the nerve to hold a staff meeting to discuss my medical problems, regardless of Hippa laws. I had presented him with doctors information that I was being treated for a medical problem and I was forced to tell my medical problems and was asked very personal information in front of staff members which was very embarrassing. Needless to say he continued working for the State, and I was forced out of my job of eleven years. He got away with everything because of his race, and that should not be allowed. I was not the only woman that he continued to harass. He got rid of all the senior workers and hired all people of his race.
