DOD releases IDs of soldiers killed in Afghanistan
ANCHORAGE, Alaska — The Department of Defense has released the names of the four Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson soldiers kill by a roadside bomb Saturday in Afghanistan.
Killed were Sgt. Joshua David Powell, Cpl. Christopher Roger Bell, Spc. Devin Arielle Snyder and Pfc. Robert Lee Voakes, Jr.
Officials say the four military policemen were killed while on mounted patrol in Laghman Province.
The 28-year-old Powell was from Quitman, Texas, and joined the Army in May 2004.
The 20-year-old Snyder hailed from Cohocton, N.Y., and entered the Army in November 2009.
Bell was a 21-year-old native of Golden, Miss., who joined the Army in July 2008.
Voakes, also 21, was from L'anse, Mich., and joined the Army in November 2009.
