UPDATE: Nickolas has been adopted, according to a Human Society official. Thank you for all your help, East Texas!

A KETK viewer who lives south of Nacogdoches has adopted Nickolas. The woman called her daughter, who lives in Longview, to bring him to her. The new owner said he she has a larg fenced yard where he can run around! The family is already in love with their new family member.

The shelter said another KETK viewer paid all of Nickolas adoption fees.

Original Report: According to the The Humane Society of Northeast Texas, a dog who was treated in Tyler for an embedded collar is in danger of being euthanized after not being fostered or adopted.

The shelter is full due to the storms from Monday night and Nickolas has yet to be adopted or fostered to keep him out of the shelter. Nickolas is in desperate need of a home with a submissive female counterpart, or a home with no other dogs. He is great with older, respectful children.

Nickolas was scheduled to be euthanized at noon Tuesday, but after a call from KETK, the euthanization was put on hold until 8:00 a.m., Wednesday morning.

If you can help Nick, please call (903) 297-2170 or if it is after 6:00 p.m., immediately e-mail This is his last chance.

EVERYONE is smiling about this "save"!! Thanks to the wonderful lady who opened her heart and home to this dog...he was NEVER meant to suffer for so long, be rescued and healed, just to be killed...he will undoubtedly be such a blessing to his new family...the message this morning was a tragedy in the making, but now Nicholas has a new lease on a long, healthy, beautiful new life.

wish I didn't have other animals.. live in the country and would love to have him..

Please keep us updated, this poor baby deserves a good home. Thank you KETK for getting the word out.

Are you meaning that this poor baby will not be euthanized???

This is sad, I already have four dogs and wished I could help. This dog did nothing but be born and now no family. Dogs love people and some people abuse them and its not right. Please someone help this beautiful dog as it will bring so much love to you.
