Wagon Wheel Road resident Joanie Wheeler says her and her neighbors are having a difficult time with mail delivery.

"We don't get mail due to an aggressive dog situation..they won't deliver mail out here."

Joanie and Jeff Wheeler are just one frustrated family out of several.

But, USPS Spokesman McKinney Boyd says the Postal Service is simply protecting their employees.

"We have to take every necessary precautionary measure to protect our letter carriers."

Jeff Wheeler says dogs roam on every street in Greenwood Ranch.

"There's not a leash law..and that's why people move out here..dogs come and visit..we don't have trouble with dogs around here."

While there's no leash law in the neighborhood, Boyd says they still encourage residents to restrain their dogs for safety.

"Dogs are territorial; when they see carriers, or utility persons..or anybody that's a stranger in their neighborhood..they have the tendency to approach them or even attack them."

Joanie says all of this started last summer, after an accident between the mail carrier and their dog, Champ.

The Wheelers say after the mail carrier hit Champ with her car, she left without telling them she had injured their dog.

Shortly after, USPS announced they would no longer be delivering mail to residents on the street. Residents say it's been a year of inconvenience.

The Wheelers had to pay $3,000 for surgery for their dog and they now pay a yearly fee for a mailbox in town.
