TYLER - The holidays are supposed to be a joyous time for families.
Unfortunately, it's also a time when domestic violence increases.
The East Texas Crisis Center says for many men, women and even children the holidays will be a terrifying, and sometimes deadly experience.
Crisis officials say there are many reasons for the increase.
There's often stress during the holiday season that adds to family conflicts in homes which can lead to violence.
That's often "magnified" by alcohol and worry over holiday spending.
Crisis center officials say, there are many resources out there to help especially during the holidays.
Churches, shelters, and even you local police department are there to help.
