"Don't Ask, Don't Tell" falls short of repeal
WASHINGTON (AP) - An effort to repeal "don't ask, don't tell" appears headed for defeat. Senate Democrats now appear to be at least one vote short of the 60 they would need to move the legislation forward. Republican Susan Collins of Maine, who has said she wants to repeal the law against gays serving openly in the
military, now says she won't support this bill.
