The temperature is rising this Summer and people need to remember to service their cars.

A Tyler mechanic told KETK what to look for to make sure people's cars don't overheat.  Angelo Lopez of Bud Jones Garage in Tyler told KETK that summerizing your car can save you thousands of dollars.

Lopez said you need to check your battery, since the heat can take an extreme toll on batteries.  He also said to make sure you flush your cooling systems, because when cooling systems have not been flushed,
they get clogged up and don't circulate the system well.

During the Summertime people forget to check their cooling systems before it is almost too late.

Waiting too long to summerize your car can result in extensive engine damage that will ultimately cost up to thousands of dollars.

Another good idea is to replace the thermostat in your vehicle to make sure your cooling system is working properly.

Lopez told KETK that people need to not only check their cooling systems, but change their oil, and make sure their fluid levels are in good shape, to ensure that their car will run smoothly this Summer.

Don't forget about summerizing your car before the temperatures rise higher and you end up wasting a lot of money on new car parts that you could have saved.
