As many East Texans dive into the wonderful selection of local produce this summer, many do take the time to turn what is left over into useful compost.

But there is another way to get the most out of your fruits and vegetables.

Many of these items can be reproduced from what you cut out or cut off.

Here is a list of what to look for, and what can be regrown from their leftovers.

  • Leeks
  • Scallions
  • Spring Onions
  • Fennel
  • Celery
  • Bok Choi
  • Romaine lettuce
  • Cabbage
  • Ginger
  • Potatoes
  • Garlic
  • Onions
  • Mushrooms
  • Sweet Potatoes
  • Pineapples
